The White Horse is located in the village of Bearsted, two miles to the east of Maidstone town centre.

If you’re travelling by car, the A20 road passes through the village and junction 7 on the M20 motorway is just a mile to the north west. Bearsted also has its own railway station on the Maidstone Line, making it easily accessible by train.

There are also plenty of footpaths in the area, including the ancient Pilgrim’s Way and the modern North Downs Way, which run along the north boundary of Bearsted.

Situated in the village of Bearsted, close to Maidstone town centre, there’s plenty to see and do in the area surrounding The White Horse.

Keeping Busy in Bearsted

For family friendly entertainment, there are plenty of things to keep children of all ages occupied. Leeds Castle offers a generous serving of history, alongside play areas, and a grotto maze, whilst Go Ape, provides endless excitement with its treetop runways and wires! And, once you’ve worked up a healthy appetite, why not bring the whole family along to The Horseshoes to refresh and refuel?

When it comes to history and culture, Maidstone has it by the bucket load. Teapot Island is an unusual visitor attraction that boasts the Guinness World Record for the number of teapots on display (around 7,000!). Thurnham Castle, White Horse Country Park, and the Maidstone Museum & Bentliff Art Gallery are all worth a visit and are also totally free.

Positioned in the heart of Kent, Maidstone also offers the perfect spot from which to explore the rest of Kent, as well as London. There are so many attractions and great days out less than 60 minutes from Maidstone that you’ll be spoilt for choice.
